In The Bleak Midwinter...

During the final strait of our house re-build, we discovered we had to dig a trench of over a metre down the entire length of the drive, lay new pipe work and re-lay the complete expanse of the drive. This was a phase when living on site was truly grim-I used to have to jump across with the toddler, then jump across with the baby, ask the builders to throw the buggy over and then try and get everyone into The Annex safely. As well as the inconvienience of the drive being dug up, we also hadn’t budgeted for it-my nerves were jangling continually at this point in the project! Still, at least the snow disguised the portaloo and skip for a short time…
