Some might consider this a small thing but I think there is something quintessentially British and wonderful about the humble deckchair. When I was designing The Harbour Hut interior, I kept thinking of how practical deckchairs would be for the over-water sun terrace as they fold flat for storage (and storage is extremely short in THH, it’s SO small, albeit perfectly formed!) and evoke the seaside kitsch feel I was after.
I designed a simple logo for The Harbour Hut and found a company who would not only put it on a deckchair for me, they also made just what I was looking for: a double deckchair made for two (I always sing “Daaaaiisy, Daaaaiisy, Give me your answer, do!” in my head when i’m thinking about the double deckchair).
It’s been a HUGE hit, so much so that I think I’ll need to order a replacment soon! Nothing beats sitting out over the water at any time of day on the deckchair at The Harbour Hut and this Indian Summer we’ve been enjoying means our lovely guests have been making the most of it in the warm October sunshine.
“You’ll look sweet,
On the seat
Of a deckchair made for two…”
